Perfect Grilled Cheese Burger and Mac That Kids Will Love

Kids love a good cheese burger. Kids also love macaroni and cheese. I’ve had some great BBQ over the year, but I think one of the biggest pleasures is seeing kids enjoy a good burger. And most kids aren’t really picky eaters. Put a good burger in front of them and they will probably eat it. Put the macaroni on the side or add it to the burger and they will love it.

Here’s one of my favorites that is great for making an easy kids mac and cheese burger. I took my really good burger recipe and made it a grill and chill favorite.

When we grill, we seriously want something simple and easy. All of my recipes usually take less than 30 minutes to prep and cook. For recipes that need to be marinated, give yourself an extra 30 minutes to an hour to prepare. Grill and chill is all about taking it easy. So when it comes to BBQ that means cooking outdoors and firing up the grill. All you need is a handful of tried and true grill recipes you can rely on. That’s where my favorite grill picks come in.

For a mac and cheese burger, you can use any type of macaroni and cheese that you prefer. You can make your own homemade macaroni and cheese recipe or use a the classic boxed macaroni and cheese mix. When it comes to grilling, feel free to experiment and find the one that works best for you.

Mac and Cheese Cheese Burger Recipe

Well, here’s my all time favorite kids burger. Kids tend to love mac and cheese and cheeseburgers separately, so combining the two can be a fun and tasty idea. The combination of the creamy and cheesy mac and cheese with the savory and mouthwatering beef patty and toasted bun make for a delicious meal for kids. Sure, every child is different, and some may not be as fond of the idea of combining these two great kid favorites. It’s always a good idea to introduce new foods and flavors to children gradually and see what they like.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • Butter
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Bacon (optional)
  • Ketchup (optional)
  • Mustard (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape each into a patty.
  3. Season each patty with salt and pepper.
  4. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side or until cooked to your liking.
  5. Internal temperature should be at least 160 degrees.
  6. Top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese if desired and let it melt.
  7. Butter each burger bun and place them on the grill, butter-side down, until lightly toasted.
  8. Heat up your macaroni and cheese according to package instructions.
  9. Place a generous scoop of macaroni and cheese on the bottom half of each bun.
  10. Place a patty on top of the macaroni and cheese.
  11. Add ketchup and mustard (optional).
  12. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve with more mac on the side, french fries or some grilled vegetables. Enjoy your delicious kid favorite grilled cheese burger!

Other Grill Favorites For Kids

Overall, the key to grilling for kids is to keep it simple and fun, and to let them choose their favorite flavors and toppings. Grilling is a fun and tasty way to cook for kids, and there are plenty of other options that are sure to be a hit. Here are some more kid-friendly grilling favorites of mine:

  1. Hamburgers and hot dogs: Classic burgers and hot dogs are always a hit with kids. Customize them with different toppings to suit your child’s taste.
  2. Grilled chicken: Grilled chicken is a healthy alternative to burgers and hot dogs and can be seasoned with different spices or marinades to add flavor.
  3. Grilled pizza: Kids love pizza, and grilling pizza can be a fun and unique way to enjoy it. You can let your child choose their favorite toppings and create their own personal pizza.
  4. Grilled vegetables: Grilled vegetables like corn, peppers, and zucchini are a delicious and healthy side dish that kids will love.
  5. Grilled fruit: Grilling fruit such as peaches, pineapple, or bananas can be a fun and healthy dessert option. You can serve them with a scoop of ice cream for a little added sweetness.

You can make your own homemade macaroni and cheese recipe or use a boxed macaroni and cheese mix. Some popular types of macaroni and cheese include classic cheddar, white cheddar, and creamy four cheese. The choice of macaroni and cheese ultimately comes down to personal preference, so feel free to experiment and find the one that works best for you.

Take This Cheese Burger And Make It Your Own

It’s important to start by learning the basics of grilling a good kids burger. Think back to when you were maybe eight or ten years old. As long as you had a good burger and some mac and cheese you were happy! Maybe add in some lemonade or an icy cold coke and you were set.

Make this recipe your own. Each kid is different and you will likely have to add this or that depending on the kid. My kids always like olives and mushrooms on their burgers. As you gain experience, you can begin to experiment with different grilling techniques, ingredients and develop your own signature style.

My advice is to always stay curious, continue learning, and be willing to make mistakes and learn from them. With dedication and a passion for grilling, you can develop the skills and knowledge necessary to create delicious, perfectly grilled food every time.
